What Is Drive – The Pretenders About?
The story follows Sarah Jenkins, also known as Savvy, a young mechanic passionate about motorsports. Although she works behind the scenes at racing competitions, her biggest dream is to become a professional driver.
However, earning a place on the racetrack is not easy. Sarah must overcome prejudice and constantly prove her abilities in an extremely competitive environment.
Her life begins to change when she starts working with Dante Annunziata, a Formula 1 world champion known for both his impressive talent and controversial personality.
At first, the two struggle to get along. While Sarah wants to prove her skills, Dante seems determined to keep his distance. Nevertheless, an unexpected situation brings them closer together.
After they are photographed in a compromising situation, Dante’s team suggests a solution to protect his reputation: the two must pretend to be engaged.
Sarah agrees to the arrangement because she believes this connection could help her secure an opportunity as a professional driver. However, as they spend more time together, their feelings begin to grow beyond the original agreement.
As a result, what was supposed to be a simple publicity strategy becomes a complicated relationship that could threaten both their professional ambitions and their hearts.
