Inspired by Laura Dave’s The First Time I Saw Him—the instant New York Times bestselling sequel to her chart‑topping novel—season two is guided by co-showrunners Josh Singer and Aaron Zelman, with executive producers Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter from Hello Sunshine.
Apple TV has released the first trailer for the highly anticipated second season of The Last Thing He Told Me. Jennifer Garner returns both as lead actor and executive producer, joined once again by Angourie Rice, David Morse, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. New cast members Judy Greer and Rita Wilson also join the ensemble for this eight‑episode season, debuting globally with its first episode on Friday, February 20, 2026, followed by weekly releases through April 10.
Adapted from Dave’s bestselling follow-up novel The First Time I Saw Him, the new season picks up with Owen (Coster-Waldau) resurfacing after five years in hiding. His reappearance thrusts Hannah (Garner) and her stepdaughter Bailey (Rice) into a frantic search for answers as they try to reunite their family before long-buried dangers return to threaten them.
Season two expands its roster with both returning and new performers, including Augusto Aguilera, Josh Hamilton, Nick Hargrove, Michael Galante, John Noble, Michael Hyatt, Luke Kirby, and Elizabeth O’Donnell.
Ahead of the new season, fans can explore the next chapter of the story through Dave’s emotional and suspense-filled novel The First Time I Saw Him, available to read or listen to on Apple Books, offering deeper insight into Hannah Hall’s gripping journey before it unfolds onscreen.
Produced by 20th Television and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine—now part of Candle Media—the series was created and adapted by Dave alongside Oscar-winning co-creator Josh Singer. Season two reunites Dave and Singer as executive producers with Garner, Witherspoon, and Lauren Neustadter, while Emmy nominee Aaron Zelman joins Singer as co-showrunner. Daisy von Scherler Mayer and Merri D. Howard also continue as executive producers.
Season one of The Last Thing He Told Me is available to stream now globally on Apple TV.
