New CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, has confirmed that “The Flash” marks the beggining of the next DC phase. “The Flash” promises to change everything we know about Superman and the rest of the DC Heroes. The film also features the return of actor Michael Keaton as Batman.
Synopsis
Worlds collide when Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) uses his superpowers to travel back in time and change past events. In an attempt to save his family, he unintentionally alters the timeline . Barry becomes trapped in a reality where Superman villain General Zod has returned. With the help of an alternative version of himself, Supergirl, and and older alternate Batman variant, Barry must undo what he has done and bring balance to the multiverse.
The cast of “The Flash” includes names such as Sasha Calle, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck.
Reboots in comics are quite common because the stories span decades, making it difficult for new readers to keep up. Due to these new beginnings, parallel universes and different versions of the same masked heroes are often created . This movie sparks the next cinematic reboot of the DC Universe.
The current phase often reffered to as “Rebirth” or the post Snyderverse ( from previous director Zack Snyder ). The new co-CEO James Gunn promises to establish an entirely new continuity of films. The new phase begins with the speedster doing everything to return to his normal timeline.He ends up mixing realities and returns to a multiverse where everything has changed when the timeline was restored. Marking the beginning of this new era for the franchise. It is yet to be known what the fate of the current actors playing popular characters such as Aquaman , Superman , Wonder WOman etc some are set to return as different heroes so the next two years will be very interesting .
The Production of “The Flash”
The production of the film was quite challenging as the story involves time travel and parallel worlds. Additionally, the movie is an adaptation of one of the most iconic comic book storylines.
To ensure that the film stayed true to the original story and met the audience’s expectations, the production team sought the assistance of Geoff Johns, one of the key writers at DC Comics. Johns also served as an executive producer of the film, helping to maintain coherence between the film’s story and that of the comics.
