After thirteen years of anticipation, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 box office hit, “Avatar: The Way of Water” is here. The 3.5-hour science fiction film, directed by James Cameron and with an estimated production budget of $250 million grossed $2.3 billion in ticket sales has ecome the third highest-grossing film of all time.
This science fiction epic received a total of four Oscar nominations and won the coveted Best Visual Effects award. The film also earned a BAFTA award in early 2023 for Special Visual Effects.
Fans of “Avatar ” can mark their calendars for June 7th when “Avatar: The Way of Water” will have be released on two streaming platforms: Disney+ and Max.
The film rights were acquired by Disney+ and Max in an unusual agreement signed last year. This release deal brings together two of the largest streaming platforms, allowing Max to share streaming rights for 50% of its 2022 title lineup with Disney+.
