The Boys: What is it about?
Eric Kripke created that amazing series about superheroes called “The Boys“. The series is based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The story takes place in a world where superheroes abuse their powers instead of using them for good, and a group of vigilantes known as “The Boys” embark on a mission to expose the truth about superheroes and bring down the corporation that controls them.
What to expect from the fourth season?
In the third season, we saw the characters facing new challenges, such as the threat of a new drug that gives temporary superpowers. We also got introduced to new characters like Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles.
They didn’t announced a lot of information about the fourth season yet. However, we already know that the series will take place in a different place. We also know that the character Stormfront, played by Aya Cash, will not be present in this season, as she was killed in the finale of the third season.
We expect to see further development of the main characters, such as Billy Butcher and Homelander. Additionally, we are excited to see how the story will unfold with the addition of new characters, like the new villain played by Giancarlo Esposito. We hope to learn more about Soldier Boy’s backstory and how he fits into the world of “The Boys,” as his motivations are still a mystery.
One of the major additions will be the introduction of the character Liberty, a former superhero who returns to action and causes a lot of trouble for the protagonists. Additionally, the plot is expected to further explore the relationship between Butcher and Becca, as well as Hughie’s quest for justice following the death of his girlfriend.
We will see the influence of Vought International on the government and society. After all, with the company’s secrets exposed, many things can change in the universe of “The Boys.”
New characters
Along with the new season, we will see the presence of new characters, such as:
- Supes Firecracker: played by Laurie Holden, she is an explosive and unpredictable superheroine. We don’t know much about her backstory or mativations yet.
- Sister Sage: played by Lela Loren, she is a religious leader who becomes one of the main adversaries of the protagonists. She is a charismatic and manipulative figure, capable of persuading her followers to do anything in the name of faith.
When will the fourth season be released?
Karl Urban announced that filming for the fourth season wrapped up in April 2023. That said, there is typically a 9 month gap between the end of filming and the premiere. Therefore, there is no specific date for the premiere yet, but we can expect it to be early 2024.
Spin-off series on the way
“The Boys” is set to receive a spin-off series called “Gen V“. The plot will follow a group of young superheroes seeking revenge against The Seven, the corrupt superhero team that is the main focus of the original series.
