The new Percy Jackson series on Disney+ is coming! Based on the famous book saga by Rick Riordan, the Greek mythology series is set to debut on December 20th. Fans of the series are already eager to see how the adaptation will be done and what changes can be expected in relation to the books.

What is the plot of the Percy Jackson series?
The Percy Jackson series on Disney+ is based on the books by Rick Riordan and follows the adventures of Percy Jackson, a demigod son of Poseidon, and his friends Annabeth Chase and Grover. The story takes place in a world where Greek mythology is real and the Olympian gods still interfere in the affairs of mortals.
In the series, Percy discovers he is a demigod and is sent to Camp Half-Blood, a safe place for demigods like him. Zeus accuses him of stealing his thunderbolt, and so he and his friends embark on a mission to find the real thief, while fighting other gods and monsters.
Percy Jackson Cast
We have Walker Scobbell as the main character. Alongside him, we have Leah Jeffries as Annabeth, the daughter of the goddess Athena and Percy’s romantic interest. Aryan Simhadri as Grover, the satyr who is the protagonist’s best friend and protector.
Among the adult cast, notables are Lance Reddick as Zeus, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Jay Duplass as Hades, Adam Copeland as Ares, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa and Suzanne Cryer as Echidna.
Additionally, we find names like Virginia Kull playing Sally, Percy’s mother; Glynn Turman as the centaur Chiron. Megan Mulally as Mrs. Dodd, one of the three Furies; and Timm Sharp as Gabe, the protagonist’s irritating stepfather.
Team and management
The author of the original books in the saga will be the producer of the series. Furthermore, the director will be Jayson Thiessen, known for his work on animations such as “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”.
Expectations that the series will be a better adaptation
The series has generated great expectations among fans of the literary saga. This is mainly due to the history of film adaptations that did not please fans of the books as much. However, this time the author of the saga, Rick Riordan, is much more involved behind the scenes. He and his wife, Rebecca Riordan, are executive producers. Therefore, the involvement of the author of the books is something that reassures fans.
