What’s the story of The House of the Dragon?
The narrative goes from the death of the previous king, Jaehaerys I , to the death of his son and successor, Viserys I. In addition to highlighting the entire evolutionary relationship between the Viserys brothers and Daemon, the tale details the king’s plans for his succession, having raised and educated his eldest daughter from the first marriage, Rhaenyra, to take over the reign after his death.
When Viserys I’s plans remain unchanged even after the birth of his son, man, from the second marriage, this ends up further fueling the rivalry within the family, which gives even more grounds for what happens in “The Princess and the Queen”.
It is worth remembering, of course, that although the highlight of the series will naturally be the House of Dragons that is in the title, we will hardly not see the members of other families playing interesting roles in the plot.
The most important thing here is to know that the two and a half years of war actually comprise the period when not only many men died, but also much of the dragons that existed in Westeros.
After the end of the conflict, Rhaenyra’s son ascends as Aegon III. He would be eternally known as the Aegon disgrace of the Dragons, and was historically blamed for the death of the last dragon in the kingdom, because he decided to stay away from the creatures after seeing his mother being devoured by the mount of Aegon II.
Curiosities of the series
In October, streaming released the first teaser of the production featuring the characters of Matt Smith (“Dr. Who”, “The Crown”), Emma D’Arcy (“Truth Seekers”) and Steve Toussaint (“Prince of Persia and the Sands of Time”), in addition to the battles.
It takes place two centuries before the events seen in the book saga ‘The Song of Ice and Fire’, which inspired the HBO series broadcast on TV between 2011 and 2019. The plot follows the terrible civil war in which House Targaryen became involved before its fall from command of Westeros.
The material on which the series is based is the book ‘Fire and Blood’. It tells the story of the main names of the dragon master family, such as Maegor the Cruel and Aegon the Conqueror.
The tip here, therefore, is clear. The period that will receive more attention from the series is around the Dance of the Dragons, as previously assumed. But not only that, it is speculated that the series will begin in the period before the beginning of the war and culminating in it. The book “Fire & Blood”, after all, spans the first 150 years of the reign of the House of Dragons, and brings the rise and fall of multiple generations of the dynasty.
Production team
The story tells of the reign of the Targaryens 200 years before the events of the original series. The screenplay was written by the book’s author, George R. Martin, and Ryan Condal (“Rampage: Total Destruction”). ” The Dragon House” is based on the work “Fire & Blood”.
The series takes place 300 years before the events of “The Song of Ice and Fire”. In addition, it has at least one name known to Game of Thrones fans on the production team. Miguel Sapochnik will direct the first episode and act as producer, alongside screenwriter Ryan Condal (Colony). But the history of the Targaryens in Westeros, and their extensive reign, goes from the Conquest of Aegon to the Robert Rebellion.
